Explore the film making techniques in Amelie and explain what makes the film such an innovative piece of film Amelie is an extremely, new, groundbreaking piece of film that uses a variety of techniques and skills to set the scene and to produce an almost fairy tale scenario. The use of mise en scene to set the background and setting of the film evokes strong feelings in its audience by using bright fairy tale colours to signify the innocents of the characters and the mood of the film. The colours make the film less serious and easier to understand and watch. The bright, primary colours remind the audience of the primary school setting where bright colours decorated the walls and exercise books of the infant classrooms and in the same way, the fairy tale style of the film might cause memories of childhood to the audience.
