Media Coursework Does "10 Things I Hate About You Form Part of the American Teenage Romance Genre"? The purpose of this coursework is to discuss whether "10 things I hate about you" forms part of the American teenage romance genre. I will consider locations, themes, key plot events and also characters. This film is based on the play written by Shakespeare "The Taming of the Shrew". This genre is base upon the following conventions stock characters, these are the characters that are incorporated in the film, for instance "popular girls", "geeks", "jocks" and "burn-outs". These characters are emblematic of the genre. In addition, location is imperative to genre, "High school", and "parties" for example.
