Media coursework Discuss the portrayal of violence in five film clips Violence in the media is rated in general terms of violence, sex and nudity, and bad language. It is usually the subtleties of these three categories that the BBFC (the people who rate most British films) look for when rating films. There are six different ratings of film, used to give guidelines on age limits A (U) stands for universal and entitles everyone to watch it with or without a parent or guardian. A (E) is a film that can hold scenes of violence and sex/nudity, but must contain religious context. Anyone is allowed to view such films because they contain information on ethnic culture.
