Discuss how Peter Weir accentuates the gulf between the two cultures through the use of cinematic technique: Witness was produced in 1985 in Paramount studios. The plot revolves around the 'witnessing' of a brutal murder by a young boy. Witness was filmed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This setting was very ideal because a lot of Amish communities live of there. The Director of the film, Peter Weir uses this film to accentuate the difference between Amish communities and the outside World. John Book (Harrison Ford), an American Police Officer investigates a murder in a Philadelphia train station, to which there is a witness, Samuel Lapp. When the corrupt Police Officers discover he is hiding the boy, Book seeks refuge in the Amish community, where he falls in love with the boy's mother, Rachel Lapp (Kelly McGillis).
