Leah Gray Discuss Hitchcocks shower scene in 'Psycho' and why it is so successful. In the lead up to the shower scene we see that Marion meets the owner of a motel, we find out that his name is Norman Bates. At first he comes across as a nice well mannered man, but we soon see that he is very edgy, we see this when Marion kindly suggests that maybe his mother should be put into a special home, he suddenly gets all up tight and upset. We can also see he isn't a all-round nice guy, because he looks at Marion through a little gap in the wall this raises our suspicion. When the shower scene begins we can see that she is happy for the first time in the film. Through out the film she has been on edge and nervous, she seems happy, as she has chosen to...
