Critical Film Review The Krays: Bonded by Blood Directed by Peter Medak (1990), Polygram Video This film is in relation to the rise and downfall of East London's most notorious gang leaders, Ronald and Reginald Kray. The film tells their life story, from their childhood, growing up in the working class slums of Bethnal Green and how they gradually became Britain's most famous celebrity gangsters. The film demonstrates how the Krays form an extremely strong bond through psychic attachment and it is through this special relationship that they became the catalysts of their own downfall. Through childhood they are raised amidst the hardship and deprivation of World War two. As they grow up they use their psychic attachment and violence to gain popularity and yet still be feared by most. The film also focuses on Violet Kray, the twin's mother.
