Comparison of the opening of 'Lord of the flies' - the novel to the opening of the film After comparing the opening of 'Lord Of The Flies', by William Golding with the opening of the film's adaptation, I discovered similarities and differences between the two. This is understandable considering the novel was written during the fifties while its visual interpretation was made during the nineties. Both genres will have different target audiences. The novel, because of its basic plot can be enjoyed by everyone. However, not all readers will detect the underlying message, in a similar way to George Orwell's 'Animal Farm' this novel is commenting on society. We can only imagine that Golding's aim is to relay his message to his readers. While the aim of the film is to produce money and maybe Golding's message in not as important to the film.
