Compare the film techniques used in the D-Day landing sequences of 'The Longest Day' and 'Saving Private Ryan' In this essay, I will compare the techniques used in two films presenting a real event, and at the same time making it dramatic and exciting for an audience. I will examine the film techniques and the differences in presentation and cinematic advances. Both of the films are set in World War 2 between the period of 1939-1945.The D-Day landings took place on the 6th of June 1944.The Germans had already invaded France by this time and were heading towards a clash with the English. When this failed the Germans set up camp there. This allowed the British and American army to invade the North of France and liberate the French.
