When Jen jumps off the mountain, what is it she wished for? The first and most obvious answer was she was wishing she had made it in time to save Li Mu Bai. But after careful reviewing of notes and the movie, I found a deeper meaning that better fits with the feministic views: she wishes to be reborn as a man. Throughout the film, Jen's powers as a fighter are unsurpassed, even though she has no formal training, she follows no rules, and she listens to no master. Because of the lack of guidance and the restrictions that have been place on women fighters, Jen struggles throughout the film with the issues...
