BLADE RUNNER ESSAY For my media studies I have seen an action sci-fi film called 'Blade Runner'. It was directed by Ridley Scott and came out in June 1982. It was based on a novel by Phillip K. Dick. "Blade Runner" is a future film and it shows the audience what it might be like in 2019. The film is about 5 replicants who have escaped to Earth in order to find out who their creator is, so that he can make them human. Replicants are human clones and they are used to serve in colonies outside Earth. Deckard is a blade runner and he is trying to hunt the 5 replicants down. Because they have fixed life spans it puts even more pressure on him, because he has to find them, and 'retire' them in time.
