All about Bette Ruth Elizabeth Davis better known as Bette Davis was born 1908 and died in 1989 of breast cancer. Bette made over a hundred films and was nominated for ten academy awards in which she won best actress twice. Bette was a very independent woman known for amazing acting ability, excessive smoking and of course her large eyes. She has stared in films along side Humphrey Bogart, Leslie Howard, Joan Crawford, Marilyn Munroe and many others. In 1928 Bette's Mother took her to New York and encouraged her to get into acting. She had been rejected from Eva Le Galliano's acting classes and then dismissed from a theatre company. She got on to Broadway in a play called "Broken dishes". When Bette reached twenty-one Universal pictures signed her to a contract, which led to her first Hollywood, film "Bad Sister" (1931).
