After reading and immensely enjoying Ian McEwen's 'Enduring Love', I decided to look at another of his novels, 'Atonement', for my 'Text Transformation' coursework. The fact that 'Atonement' has both a complex plot that kept my interest throughout reading it and intriguing characters, made it an appealing choice of text to transform. My initial choice of transformation was to turn a part of 'Atonement' into a play script, however after my first draft I decided I wanted to make better use of visual aids concerning the setting. With this in mind, I decided to transform 'Atonement' into the beginning of a film script. To gauge an idea of the conventions of film genre, I looked at two examples.
