A discussion of two film treatments of the opening of "Lord of the Flies In this essay about the openings of both Peter Brook and Harry Hooks screen adaptation of William Golding's cult novel about a group of British school children who revert to savagery when marooned on a deserted island after there plane crashes of the Pacific ocean. As the children get the feel of the island the group separates into two different camps; Ralph and his followers prefer to act civilized ant want to expand there efforts toward finding away off the island; on the other hand Jack and his followers revert to painting their faces, carrying spears and exploiting the island for survival. When the chances of being rescued become less likely the two factions go to war with each other with tragic results.
