The Changing Nature of the Family in Australia The family is one of the most important and basic institutions of society. They are the oldest and the most basic of human groups1. The nature of a family is not like the dictionary definition. The nature of a family can be determined by many factors including roles, gender, environment, communication and technology. From the introduction of the television on 1956 to today the nature of a family has been mainly influenced by technology. However humans determine how much technology controls their lives and on the family front technology is highly depended on and thus is the main contributing factor in society influencing the nature of a family.
