Obligations Essay Week 16 Richard Wilson My client, Jill, a self-employed actress, has recently appeared in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk. However, all did not go well, with her colleague, Jack, ending up with an injury. Jill wonders if she is liable for his injury. It will be necessary to analyse the situation and using the relevant case law and statute, to ascertain whether or not liability is present. Jack's injury was caused when he climbed the beanstalk stage prop, and it collapsed due to the fact that it was not correctly supported. This is because it was not meant to be used until Act Two. However, Jack climbed it because my client Jill instructed him to "get up the beanstalk". It is my submission that Jill is not liable to Jack for his injury.
