Does the UK have a unwritten constitution? Moves towards a written constitution? An independent organisation called charter 88, with over 80,000 supporters looking to campaign for a written constitution and constitutional reform. Arguments for a written constitution: 1. Law is easily accessible instead of just constitutional experts who know where to look and how to interpret it. 2. Law that is enshrined cannot be amended or appealed easily by a small majority in Parliament - instead stringent procedure diff. to how we change normal legislation 3. People's rights are set out clearly and guaranteed - allows them to claim a right he can enforce, clarity of those working in system and those wishing to scrutinise. 4. Power of government is set out and therefore restricted - to ensure the gov. is subject to rule of law, checks and restrictions placed - particularly on PM, increasing fear too much power. 5.
