'Absurd Person Singular' is a play consisting of three acts, which is set in the 1970's. The play centres around the lives of three couples and focuses on their fortunes and relationships. Each of the three acts is set during the Christmas season, in each of the couple's kitchens. It is an off-stage action play, which means that the audience does not witness the main event in the play. While much, in terms of settings and situation remains constant and Ayckbourn draws many parallels, the play also focuses on the changes in fortune leads to financial success there is no positive change in their relationship. Sidney is still the dominant character in the relationship and he takes advantage of it, by bulling Jane and everyone else. This is demonstrated at the end of Act Two when...
