Leith, 1 Essay on Chekhov Throughout the play Three Sisters written by Anton Chekhov, like in any other written piece of work, there is an evolution taking place. Two types of evolution can be categorized; the psychological evolution and the physical evolution. In other words, characters involved will have different characteristics at the initial and final state of the play. In his essay, I will take a closer look at how Natasha evolves on her psychological level. I will analyze her initial state of mind supported by references from the text and slowly continue towards the end of the play leading me to the conclusion that Natasha takes over the chief role of Olga in the house, not from a family point of view but rather from an authority point of view. At the beginning of the play, Natasha makes her first entrance in the final stretch of act one. We...
