To what extent, if at all, has the concept of Parliamentary Sovereignty been affected by UK Membership of the EU? The United Kingdom's Parliament has been greatly effected by the membership of the European Union (EU) and within this essay I will discuss how it has been effected and why the changes occurred. I will begin the discussion with a brief explanation of what Parliamentary Sovereignty is and what it means to the people of the United Kingdom. I will then examine the implications of the Factatame case (1996) on Parliamentary Sovereignty as well as the implications of the summing up on the Van gaden loos case (1963). Historically the concept of Parliamentary sovereignty has been of major importance to both political scientists and journalists.
