China is the largest and most powerful communist government in existence. Administratively, the country is divided into twenty-three provinces, five autonomous regions and four municipalities. LAW LEVEL AND SCOPE OF CONSIDERATION The current legal system of the PRC operates as part of five-tiered governmental structure comprising, from top to bottom, the (1) central, (2) provincial, (3) municipal, (4) county and (5) village levels. The table 1 sets out the various political, legislative, governmental, administrative, judicial and prosecutorial structures and institutions of the PRC according to these five levels.
