Corporate Manslaughter Part One The term corporate manslaughter has increasingly been used to label accidents involving large companies. The offence itself is not codified but based around the common law. Suggest whether the corporate manslaughter should be made into a statutory offence. Part Two Consider the viability of the law in this area, with particular analysis of successful prosecutions of smaller companies opposed to larger companies. Part One Public confidence in the English Legal system has been adversely affected over the last few years with the rise in the number of disasters, involving companies which have resulted in deaths, and where the law of manslaughter as it currently stands in England and Wales, has been inadequate in imposing criminal liability on the companies involved through the lack of successful prosecutions.
