Pickstone v Freemans plc. [1989] AC 66, [1988] 3 WLR 265. Q2 * Mrs I. Pickstone and four others (the applicants), who worked as warehouse operatives made a complaint of sex discrimination to an Industrial Tribunal, against Freemans plc (the employers). As they were receiving less pay than Mr Philips, who did work of equal value. Mr Philips was employed as a checker warehouse operative. * The Industrial Tribunal found 'regardless of the fact that the applicants did a job of equal value to Mr Philips', there was also a male employee working as a 'warehouse operative' who was employed on the same conditions as the applicants, the applicants had therefore not been the victims of sex discrimination. The applicants appealed to the Employment Appeals Tribunal. * The Employment Appeals Tribunal affirmed the decision of the industrial tribunal and dismissed the appeal.
