Morals are beliefs and values which are shared by a society, or a section of society. They tell those who share them what is right or wrong. In our society, moral views have been heavily influenced by the dominant religion, Christianity, though it is not our only source of moral values. In looking at the quote, it has been recognized as an extract from the Wolfenden Committee Report on Homosexual Offences and Prostitution which was published on 3rd. September, 1957. The Wolfenden Committee which was set up by the Government to look at whether laws on homosexuality and prostitution should be changed. This came about as a result of much debate in the 1950's and 1960's on whether law should follow morality and where there was much public concern about what was perceived to be a decline in sexual morality.
