Since 1997, Britain has indeed been undergoing a period of constitutional reform. Mainly, those significant changes were brought in by the Constitutional Reform Act 2005, which was approved by both Houses1 on March 21, 2005, and received royal assent on 24 March 2005. This Act of Parliament passed by the Parliament of the United Kingdom in 2005 essentially makes provision for modifying the office and the functions of the Lord Chancellor as well as settling new judicial appointments.
