i) Introduction Over recent years it has become more apparent that the number of people within the UK borrowing on credit has increased dramatically. Appendix I, is from the national statistics website, and shows that the number of people receiving money on credit had seen dramatic rises up until 2002. However, from recent reports issued in an article found on the BBC website in http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6230295.stm it is clear that the amount of borrowing has seen falls in the percentage increase per annum, but having said this it is clear that over a number of months we have seen growing concern over the increasing high level of credit within the UK and it is therefore essential that there is an examination of the legal protections given to consumers of credit under consumer credit law.
