VOLUTARY MANSLAUGHTER - PROVOCATION Voluntary manslaughter occurs when the defendant claims various special defences against the charge of murder. If a person intends to kill and does so, they may claim the less serious charge of voluntary manslaughter if the jury agrees that certain defences are appropriate.
