How To Stage 'A Day In The Life Of Joe Egg' This play written in 1976 by Peter Nichols is the story of two parents and their disabled child nicknamed Joe Egg, who dominates their lives. In this essay I will attempt to portray how this first scene could be staged, in relation to the monologue and the commentary. I will try to devise a way of incorporating both aspects. The first thing we must take into consideration is that this is a tragicomedy. Therefore it must be acted in a way which not only grabs hold of the audiences funny bone but also portrays the desperation and paranoia of the character in question.
