Discuss Dan's liability under the Criminal Damage Act 1971.

... Bilge Industries Ltd recently began to operate a toxic waste processing plant on the outskirts of Newton. The toxic waste is transported into the plant by lorry. At the entrance to the plant premises, Bilge Industries Ltd have erected huge information boards instructing the lorry drivers to alight at the entrance to be issued with safety clothing and equipment prior to driving on to the toxic waste storage area of the plant. Dan wishes to join a local gang and, as a part of the initiation ceremony, has been told to write slogans on the information boards at the plant. One night, having consumed brandy to strengthen his resolve, Dan goes to the processing plant and, in thick wax crayon, draws a large image of a human skull and protest slogans on the information boards, obliterating the information painted on the boards. Dan hopes that the skull and slogans will dissuade
