Jeremy Galvis Criminal Law Death Penalty Paper I feel that the death penalty should be abolished in the United States. I understand there are crimes that have been committed that are so horrible that most people feel that they deserve death. And I also understand that the death penalty is used as a way of deterrence. In New Jersey the death penalty is given when the defendant conducts murder by one's own conduct, is committed in furtherance of a narcotics conspiracy, or during the commission of the crime of terrorism. Now these are very serious crimes. If one were to commit one of these, surly you would be aware of the severe consequence before hand, thus proving one to have a complete disregard for the law.
