Dave makes his rounds of the animals before the zoo closes for the evening, and, because he is not concentrating, he fails to secure the lock on the door of the chimpanzee enclosure. As Dave is getting into his car to drive away, he notices that one particularly malevolent chimp has managed to get the door open. Dave decides that he cannot be bothered to return to lock the cage, saying to himself, "that will teach the boss he will have to round them up himself." Dave anticipates that the chimps might cause some minor damage. In fact, Victor, a young boy who has climbed over the fence into the zoo, as he has done on many occasions, is killed by one of the larger chimps. Discuss Dave's criminal liability...
