Williams v Roffey Bros and Nicholls (Contractors) Ltd [1990] 1 All ER 512. Introduction This essay will discuss about the case of Williams v Roffey Bros and Nicholls (contractors) Ltd. A sub-contract has been made between the plaintiff and the contractors to do carpentry works in a block of 27 flats. Unfortunately, some problems had raised between the two parties hence, the sub-contractor, Williams, ceased work. The latter then sued the defendant for breaching of contract. The main problems in this case were whether or not there was consideration. Some other cases, both precedents and most recent ones will also be discussed to show how this case can be related to others. In this case, the defendants appealed against the decision of the County Court. They based on the argument that the plaintiff did not have enough consideration.
