Tma 06: Religious Studies How far do you think observing a visible religious activity, such as a festival, can help you to understand the part religion plays in the life of an Individual and a Community? (1200 words) In this essay I hope to explore the part religion plays in the life of an individual and how religious activities help us understand the role of religion in a community. I hope to do this by using the Ninian Smart Dimensional Model to enable us to understand the religious activity encountered. All of the world's major religions have festivals that the followers take part in. The Jews have Passover, the Muslims have Hajj and the Christians have Easter. As a believer takes part in these festivals it enables them to focus upon God and to show, in a practical way, their devotion to Him. Most festivals also recount some special event in the past...
