We know that Islam isn't a pacifist religion but they disagree with war unless all other options have failed; for example negotiations. The prophet preached of how Muslims should treat a non-Muslim people of monotheistic religions living in an Islamic state, these people are called Dhimmi's. Muslims are told by Muhammad how to treat Dhimmi's, he tells them that they are not to be mistreated as they are people of the book and still worship God. If a Muslim looked at the preachings of Muhammad to see how they should treat these Dhimmi's they would see...
