Hermann Hesse wrote a book named "Siddhartha"1 that narrated the journey of Siddhartha to reach spiritual peace through several stages. In comparison to the book "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind," both authors have many similar ideas that the truth can be realized after the elimination of self-centered, which is brought from desires and materials.2 The story of "Siddhartha" illustrates that self-realization can be achieved in the unity of life. Human's life is a quest. Shunryu Suzuki specifies in the book "Zen's Mind, Beginners Mind" that enlightenment is a form of liberation from the material world and dualism.
