Science Essay-"Science produces understanding, not facts" To say that science produces an all out truth, and that it is totally certain is an unjustified claim. Science does not produce facts; it produces an understanding of how things are/work in our world. The goal of science is to provide a way to come as close as we can to understanding the cause-effect realities of the natural world. Science is a process that can only produce "possible" to "highly probable" explanations for natural phenomena (a basic understanding of how things work); these are not certainties. With new information, tools, or approaches, earlier findings (theories, or even facts) can be replaced by new findings.
