... "Heaven and Hell are concepts without philosophical foundations". Discuss. Over the last decade, the debate about the specific nature of heaven and hell has intensified. Within Christianity there are three main views about heaven and hell. Firstly is universalism, the view that everybody will be saved and go to heaven, secondly is conditional immortality, the view that good people will go to heaven and bad people will be destroyed, and thirdly that most people will suffer unending torture in hell as punishment for their sins. Universalism is quickly becoming known as the "new-age movement" by many Christian theologians but there are still plenty of humanists rejecting any notion of life after death. However the truth is that the concepts of heaven and hell are Biblical ones and mentioned by Jesus more than anyone else in the Bible.
