Outline the reasons why some argue that morality is linked to religion Many argue that morality is dependant on religion. Reasons they have put forward to justify their beliefs are as follows: It is suggested that Theonomy (Gods law) provides an absolute moral law. This means that this law is always the case and provides a black and white picture with no grey areas; things are simply right or wrong. Although free will is in question here Aquinas says that free will is a necessary part of morality and in choosing to do God's will we are making a free choice. It is also argued that theonomy is the only way human beings can do the right thing and be moral people.
