I am going to outline and examine Christian teachings about marriage and the family giving evidence from the bible and other sources. Christian teaching about marriage and the family are very specific but vary slightly through different denominations. The bible teaches a lot on marriage and the family and many people look to the bible for advice on problems in daily life. Marriage is a very important part of Christianity. Not only is it for pro-creation but also for company and friendship. In Genesis 2:12:24 it states, "It is not good for man to live alone. He needs companionship. Woman is mans 'helpmeet', his equal partner in creation. In marriage the couple become as one." The Lord God also said at the beginning of creation, that it wasn't good for Adam to be alone.
