Discuss the origins and key features of Luther's Theology to 1517 "To be a Christian, you must pluck out the eye of reason." - Martin Luther Luther was born on November 10, 1483 at Eisleben in Thuringian Saxony. Luther's few recollections of his childhood reflect the strict discipline that was common of the period. Luther's early education at Mansfield, Magdeburg and later Erfurt can be an attribute to Luther, and a basis for his later beliefs. Luther's life started and his horizons expanded when he joined the University of Erfurt in 1501. He was renowned for talking long, seriously and in so much depth that it earned him the nickname 'the philosopher'. He graduated with a B.A and continued his studies with the full support of his parents.
