"The objective of establishing the Conservative Party as a party of government explains most of the actions of Disraeli in passing the 1867 Reform Act" How valid is this interpretation of Disraelian Conservatism? This quote is basically saying that Disraeli's motive behind making sure the 1867 Reform Act that he put forward was passed was to make sure the Conservatives win the next election. I agree with this statement. Disraeli saw the passing of his Reform Act as beating the Whigs, getting Liberal support, and splitting the Liberals at the same time, stopping them uniting behind Gladstone. This is shown by the fact that parts of the bill were designed to strengthen the Conservative's electoral chances. The bill ensured that more town residents voted in the boroughs rather than the counties. This was because the Liberals were stronger in the boroughs, so by flooding these already likely Liberal seats with more voters, it
