... Alexandrina Victoria was born on May 24th, 1819 in Kensington palace London. Victoria became heir apparent to the British crown upon the present king, William IV 's, accession in 1830. On June 20th 1837, Victoria was crowned Queen of England at the tender age of 18. From this date until the end of her reign in 1901, Victoria and her husband Albert were to change Britain forever. Her time on the throne led Britain to great glory and confidence. At first they were unpopular because of her Hanoverian background and because he was foreign , but they overcame these difficulties to lead Britain to the peak of its power and importance. Victoria was the daughter of Victoria Mary Louisa and her father was Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent and Strathern. She was prepared for being a queen from a very young age as she became heir apparent to the throne at the
