John Gardner Year 10 Coursework Paper 1B 20/06/01 There are many parts to a Roman Catholic Mass that try to demonstrate community and fellowship. During the 'Liturgy of the Word', there is a reading from the gospel. An example of this is the parable of the 'Good Samaritan'. In this parable, where as others, including a Levite walk on by, the Samaritan stops and helps the man in need. Not only does the man help and take care of the injured man, he does it without knowing him, as the Samaritan was only traveling through to Jericho. This shows great fellowship. In this parable, Luke writes that Jesus told his followers to go out and do the same as the Samaritan. Roman Catholics could learn to help people by taking responsibility instead of leaving it to others, which is exactly what the Levite did. The Samaritan did not know the man, but...
