Subject specific skills are skills which are solely for the subject or field it is acquired in, for example writing law reports for law. Transferable skills refer to skills which can be used in a number of subjects, these are known as key skills. Key skills are: 'the generic, transferable skills that the government and much of industry consider to be essential for successful lifelong learning and flexible workforce.'
