The term adolescence has been attempted to be defined over the past years and Bob Moon and Ann Hayes have in their book described it as 'the transition from childhood to maturity'.1A much more descriptive definition 'is the transitional period between puberty and adulthood in human development, extending mainly over the teen years and terminating legally when the age of majority is reached; youth.'2 We are aware that this is a vital time of development for children as it is at this stage that they begin to experience changes physically, emotionally and physiologically.
