Fox In The Snow Gustave Courbet is a painter with extraordinary talents that portrays simplicity in a complicated world sometimes. He was fascinated with subjects in everyday life as many can tell by his paintings. The Fox In The Snow, by Gustave Courbet, gives to us an ideal example of realism in a painting. In this painting the first thing noticed is the direction and the way the fox is laying down, almost surprised. He has his back legs up while he is crouched over, it is as if he was caught by surprise by something that is not in the painting. Maybe something caught his attention and made his body contort in that way. Another element of his body is the tail. It seems to be at attention by being strait upward.
