Blackpool, since Victorian times, has been the holiday centre for the North of England and the industrial holidays in the textile mills of Lancashire. It saw a massive influx of people looking for relaxation and entertainment - a change from the harshness of their working lives, with Blackpool being a working class region. Far from suffering financially as fashions changed and people began to opt for foreign travel in the 1960's, the pleasure beach, one of Blackpool's most popular tourist attractions, has always moved with the times.
