Where is Japan?? Japan is island country in East Asia, up in the North Pacific Ocean coast of Asia. The area of Japan is 377,873 square kilometers, nearly equivalent to Germany and Switzerland combined or slightly smaller than California. Japan is made up of 4 main islands, Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku. Japanese call the country "origin of the sun" or "land of the rising sun". Tokyo is the capital city and also the largest city in Japan. Japans Climate> December- February (winter): temperature will rarely drop below 0°c on the coast during winter. Often dry and often sunny, if you are traveling during winter you might want to stay southern part of Japan which conditions are mild and pleasant.> March-May (spring): the wonderful thing in Japan is in spring, the plum blossom is the sign for spring.
