Developing Tourist Destinations ULH1067 The resort that I have chosen to use as my area to re-Develop is Banjul. Banjul is the capital city of Gambia. Gambia or The Gambia (or the Republic of the Gambia) as it is commonly known is one of the smallest countries in the continent of Africa. The entire area of Gambia is 11,300 square Kilometres and the country has a population of approximately 1.5 million (CIA - The world factbook). Gambia can be located on the west coast of the African continent and ranks 160th out of 173 countries on the United Nations human development index, The Gambia is one of the 48 least developed countries in the world and 53.7% of the population is reckoned to be living on less than 55 pence per day (www.propoortourism.org.uk/15_Gambia.pdf). Approximately 75% of the population depends on farming i.e. crops and livestock for its main source of income...
