Discuss and explain why an inexpensive, mass produced item can still qualify as a "quality" product. Answer 1 Quality was, up till recently, defined as -: * Quality consists of those product features which meet the needs of customers and thereby provide product satisfaction. * Quality consists of freedom from deficiencies. These have now been redefined in the new ISO 9000/2000 standard. It now states that quality is "The degree to which a set of inherent characteristics fulfils requirements". However, many people regard, mistakenly, quality to be a subjective matter based upon what they, as individuals, think a product should be. For example if a person bought a Biro and expected it to last forever by being able to refill it and then found that they could not perform this function then they might say...
