This will be attempted by taking a closer look at how managers actually use a strategic tool and what the problems are which they encounter, as well as what the advantages are which they can benefit from, when using a tool. Companies spend copious amounts of money each year obtaining tools and applying them. Nonetheless, executives have low expectations from the actual results of the tools in practice. Strategic tools, if one believes in the theory, should help companies drastically improve their performance and competitive advantage.
